CITIES FOR ACTION ISSUES STATEMENT ON SENATE BUDGET RESOLUTION PASSAGE

Cities for Action, a coalition of mayors and county executives advocating for pro-immigrant policies and programs, applauds the Senate’s passage of a budget resolution that brings us one step closer to a fair and humane immigration system. This resolution recognizes a fact known by cities and counties across the country—that in order to truly “Build Back Better” we must pass a budget reconciliation bill that includes a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, farm workers and other essential workers.  We recognize that this is the first step in a longer legislative process, and we urge Congress to include an expansive pathway to citizenship in the ultimate reconciliation bill to achieve a healthier more prosperous future for all.
