CITIES FOR ACTION ISSUES STATEMENT ON THE END OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S PUBLIC CHARGE RULE

Cities for Action (C4A) issued the following statement in response to the Biden administration's move to end the Public Charge rule.

Cities and counties across the country celebrate the end of the cruel and unjust public charge rule. Local governments know firsthand that when immigrants thrive, our communities thrive. Exclusionary policies like the public charge rule fostered a hostile atmosphere over the past four years that instilled fear and discouraged immigrants and their families from accessing vital services and interfacing with all levels of government, even when the rule did not apply to them. We applaud the Biden administration for this major step towards ensuring greater inclusivity, equity, and justice for our immigrant communities. It will undoubtedly make our communities stronger, healthier, and more resilient at a time when we need it most.
