CITIES FOR ACTION ISSUES STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE U.S. CITIZENSHIP ACT

Cities for Action (C4A) issued the following statement in response to U.S. Senator Menendez (D-NJ) and U.S. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA) unveiling the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. 

"Cities and counties across the country know firsthand that immigrants and refugees make our communities stronger. After four years of relentless attacks on our immigrant and refugee communities that showed just how broken our immigration system is, the time has come to build a bolder vision of immigrant justice that preserves opportunity and dignity for all. The U.S. Citizenship Act would provide much-needed pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while reuniting families, protecting the rights of asylum seekers, and strengthening our local economies. We welcome the Biden administration’s effort on this legislation and call on Congress to pass the U.S. Citizenship Act to build towards a just and humane immigration system worthy of our legacy as a nation of immigrants."
