CITIES FOR ACTION ISSUES STATEMENT ON THE HOUSE PASSAGE OF THE AMERICAN DREAM & PROMISE ACT

Cities for Action (C4A) issued the following statement in response to the House of Representatives' passage of the American Dream & Promise Act (HR6).

Cities and counties across the country know that when immigrants thrive our communities are stronger. We’re thrilled that the House of Representatives has recognized this fact by passing the American Dream & Promise Act, opening much-needed pathways to citizenship for millions of immigrants throughout the 50 states. This long-overdue relief for Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients will strengthen our communities and our economies for generations to come, and help ensure a full and equitable recovery from the pandemic. We applaud this huge first step towards achieving a fair and humane immigration system, and we urge Congress to continue this critical work to provide a pathway to citizenship for all of our undocumented residents, including those who have been impacted by our broken criminal legal system.
